A geek, thinker, blogger and constant learner, Nicholas started creating macros on spreadsheets when he was only seven and scribbling faster on his Palm Pilot than most could type when he was eighteen. Of course, there were the occasional video games. Today, Nicholas is a technopreneur and digital media enthusiast who has worked with more than 20 different organisations in various capacities ranging from founder, principal, investor, to volunteer, advisor, and mentor. Yes, this geek has had his fair share of failures and successes at the age of 31. Nicholas blogs with CNET Asia, serves as Honorary Treasurer for Singapore Computer Society’s Interactive Digital Media Chapter as well as a member on the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts’ Internet and New Media Advisory Committee. You can see him in the local news quite often as Nicholas devotes more than 30% of his time trying to make a difference in the gaming industry through the non-profit (Singapore) Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) which he co-founded. Fresh from presenting to local policy makers at the recent Policy Making 2010 – Impact of Emergent Technologies, Nicholas has also presented on digital and social media at various conferences including Brunei THiNKBIG National Technology Forum, World Professional Blogger-Journalists Association Convention in Seoul, LG Asia Pacific PR Summit, Ogilvy Digital Summit, Media Relations in the Digital Age Conference, National Library Board’s Bridging Worlds Conference, READ! Singapore's Multiliteracy in the New Millennium Conference, the Gamers Forum on Media Development Authority's Media Fiesta, amongst other conferences. Nicholas is also currently co-authoring a book studying digital media developments in the Asia. Although he will probably never complete a full marathon carrying a knee injury, this is one geek blogger who has not only survived but somehow won the Judges’ Choice for Singapore’s very first 24 hours non-stop Blogathon. |
